Zupka & Associates is a public accounting firm dedicated to serving our clients in the areas of accounting services and auditing in the governmental and non-profit sectors. We are looking for a qualified staff accountant in the area of audit and attestation services. We offer the perspective of a local firm with a commitment to providing personalized professional service to our clients. The Staff Accountant will perform the following:

  • Perform a variety of accounting and auditing assignments for cities, schools, and non-profit organizations under the supervision of senior staff members.
  • Perform audit procedures, including test of internal controls over receipting, disbursements, and payroll, and preparation of audit working papers.
  • Assist with proofing financial statements and other documents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • Able to travel using a personal vehicle, for work at client’s offices, meetings or seminars – frequent daily travel and occasional out-of-town travel with overnight stay.

We are looking for a qualified senior accountant in the area of audit and attestation services. We offer the perspective of a small local firm with a commitment to providing personalized professional service to our clients. The Senior Accountant will perform the following:

  • Plan and perform audits and review procedures as assigned on audits of governmental and non-profit clients, including compilation of financial statements
  • Interact directly with the Partners and Managers on matters related to client and engagement management
  • Communicate with the internal accounting and auditing departments of our clients and ensure delivery of exceptional service
  • Assist with strengthening existing client relationships and development of new business opportunities
  • Train, coach, and develop staff accountants

Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting
  • 3 years of experience working with external audit in public accounting or a combination of governmental public accounting experience, and experience in review and compilation of GAAP financial statements
  • Experience with governmental accounting and auditing standards
  • Ability to work independently and adhere to scheduled deadlines and time budgets, and ability to complete work assignments with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • Able to travel using a personal vehicle, for work at client’s offices, meetings or seminars – frequent daily travel and occasional out-of-town travel with overnight stay.
